Steps to the Spirit
Steps to the spirit is about my search for, discovery of, and use of the Spirit to live my life according to the wishes and plans of God. I also call them gifts from God because I believe He has given us these tools to enable us to find a closer relationship with Him. I invite you to join me in this quest that is at times both difficult and extremely fulfilling. I will try to explain how and why it became necessary to surrender, thus enabling me to begin to live according to God's plan.I will post additional info on my blog: http://www.StepsToTheSpirit.com/blog To contact me, please use: Chuck@stepstothespirit.com

This episode, and possibly the next I am dedicating to the formation of the 12 step program. If any of you have been listening to this podcast for a while, then you will know how much importance I put on the Oxford Group. I would go so far as to say that every one of the steps in the 12 step program has, in some way, I direct connection to the substance of the Oxford Group.
Bill Wilson, the cofounder of the 12 step program, learned about a way to become sober through his friend Ebby Thatcher, a member of the Oxford Group. Bill then attended meetings at the Oxford Group for some time, and became sober as a result of that. One of the things it was hard for Bill to swallow was the overriding inference, or maybe I should say, impact, of Christianity. This was one of the factors that I’ll talk about in today’s episode.
